Change is an integral part of life, and the ability to adapt and evolve is vital. For educators, adaptation is critical as it impacts students' preparedness, speed of progress, and ability to compete with those who have access to advanced resources. Therefore, educators, like everyone else, should remain open to evolving alongside these changes.
The education system requires several key changes. These changes include providing students with access to digital learning, focusing on individualized teaching tailored to students' unique needs, and embracing disruptive innovation. Disruptive innovation refers to introducing new products, services, or technologies into existing markets, often targeting underserved segments and eventually outperforming established offerings.
As Professor Clayton Christensen explains, successful technology replacements usually succeed by addressing accessibility and customization needs while being cost-effective. Blended learning is not merely about incorporating technology as an alternative resource; it leverages technology to enhance learning with personalized experiences, access to abundant information, quality teaching, and flexible resources available anytime, anywhere. In my previous school district, while various digital resources were accessible, bilingual students faced a disadvantage as there was a more extensive array of resources available in English on iPads.
